Kidarah Talks: Fadeaway
Fadeaway… What can I say? It’s all in the name…
Have you ever felt that feeling when you’re with someone and the entire world fades to black and it seems like the whole universe only exists in their eyes? It almost feels like the whole world fades away… That feeling. That’s Fadeaway.
I wrote this song after an amazing night where I met someone who I never expected to hit it off with so heavy. Let’s rewind a little…
I was at a rock mansion party in the hills when our mutual friend introduced us. I’m a lightweight, so I was a couple sips of alcohol in and was feeling perfect. I honestly don’t remember what we first talked about that night, but whatever it was, we hit it off so well, that before I knew it, we were dancing together to the band that was playing. Like, couples dancing. To a rock band. Crazy, I know. So anyway the party ends and he invites me to go back to his place with him. Kinda stupid but I felt safe, so I went. The next morning I was pretty hungover and he literally brought me water with raw ginger in it to combat the dehydration. I know the spiritual girlies understand how much this meant to me <3 We talked by the pool in a hammock together for a couple hours before I went home. I was processing SO many positive feelings from what I had just experienced, so when I got home, I took a lil nappy nap.
Upon awakening, I immediately sat down at my computer and started producing how I felt. Then the lyrics just came to me like water flowing down a river. When I finished it, I sat back and felt so overwhelmed with joy because I have been so sad and depressed for so long, seeing myself happy from a musical perspective was really beautiful. And listen, I don’t believe that we should rely on others for our own happiness. That is a job we have to pursue every day on our own, however, finding the right people to be a part of your journey make it SO much better. And months later, he snapped the photo that would end up becoming the single artwork for the song ;’) I am so blessed to ever have met this guy, and if it doesn’t last forever that’s ok, but I’m enjoying the HELL out of it while it does.
